How the Student Housing Waiting List Works
Skövdebostäder’s student apartments are rented out through a special student housing waiting list and only to individuals who have been admitted to the University of Skövde. To sign and hold a student housing lease with Skövdebostäder, you must have received an admission notice for at least 15 higher education credits per semester. If you have applied but have not yet been admitted, you cannot sign a lease.
If you are interested in renting a student apartment, you must have an active application in our student housing waiting list; this applies even if you already live in housing provided by Skövdebostäder. You can join the student housing waiting list starting the year you turn 15. You join the waiting list and manage your housing application by logging in to “My Pages.”
Join the student housing queue
The waiting period begins on the day you submit your expression of interest, and you can join the waiting list at any time starting the year you turn 15. To be eligible to apply for student housing, you must be 54 years old or younger.
You earn one point for every day you are on the housing waiting list; for example, after one year on the list, you will have accumulated 365 points. There is no other way to earn more points. The points are personal and cannot be transferred or combined with someone else’s points.
You must update your expression of interest once a year to remain on the waiting list. To do this, log in to My Pages, open "Student Expression of Interest," review the information, and save it.
Express your interest and rank your preferred apartments
Subject to availability, vacated student apartments are normally posted once a week on our website. Please note that there may be weeks when no student apartments are listed. You can set up an email alert so you don’t miss out when apartments that interest you are listed. Each rental round is posted for at least four days, and during this time, you can use “My Pages” to express interest in all the advertised student apartments you’re interested in for that round. You can also prioritize the order in which you’re interested in these apartments.
If you have the longest wait time for one or more student apartments you’ve expressed interest in, you’ll receive an offer for the apartment you ’ve ranked highest. You can only receive one offer at a time. This is usually sent via email but can also be viewed on My Pages. If you decline this offer, you will not receive a new offer from the same rental round—even if you are number one on the waiting list for another apartment. Therefore, please only express interest in the apartments you are truly interested in.
You should normally respond to the apartment offer within three days. For example, if you receive an offer on a Tuesday, you should respond by Thursday of the same week. The easiest way to respond is through My Pages. If you decline the offer or do not respond within the specified time frame, the offer will be passed on to the next person in line.
Email can sometimes be an unreliable way to communicate. Occasional emails may get caught in the spam filter in your inbox, depending on which email provider you use and its settings. Skövdebostäder therefore recommends that you log in to “My Pages” regularly to express interest in any advertised apartments or respond to offers. Remember that it is, first and foremost, your own responsibility to respond on time.
If you fail to respond to offers on three occasions, you will be barred from expressing interest in new apartments. The restriction will remain in effect for 6 months.
Admitted to the University of Skövde?
You must have a current letter of admission from the University of Skövde to sign and hold a student housing lease with Skövdebostäder. You must be admitted to at least 15 higher education credits per semester. If you have applied but have not yet been admitted, you cannot sign a lease. When you sign a lease, the waiting time for your application in the student housing queue is reset to zero. You also cannot apply for new housing with Skövdebostäder within six months of your move-in date. You must terminate your student lease yourself when your studies end, without being asked to do so by Skövdebostäder.
Enrolling in a distance learning program at the University of Skövde or another educational institution does not qualify as a reason to rent a student apartment.
Academic Requirements and Assessments
The academic requirement for renting a student apartment is a passing grade at the University of Skövde of at least 15 higher education credits per semester. The corresponding requirement for doctoral students is a study load of at least 50 percent per semester.
Enrollment checks are conducted once per semester to verify that you are still a student and meet the academic requirements.
