Introduction to Boin

As part of our partnership agreement with the Municipality of Skövde, we have developed a housing orientation program for new tenants who may not have much experience living in rental housing. Target groups for this program may include new arrivals, young people, or other groups that need a little extra information.

Here, we provide practical guidance on how to sort your trash and take care of your apartment, as well as information about your rights and responsibilities as a tenant. We explain which cleaning products are suitable for different surfaces and how to dispose of grease properly to prevent it from clogging the drains.

In collaboration with SFI, we have contributed to educational materials—a video and a brochure—that explain what it’s like to live in a rental apartment in Sweden. How do you look for a place to live? How do you avoid the black market for rentals? Why should you have home insurance? What does it mean to be evicted? In short, the rental law explained in simple terms.

Housing companies in Sweden play a key role in how Sweden will manage the integration of all new arrivals into society. This is because housing is the foundation for security, the ability to look for work, and the opportunity to become part of a social community. Sharing knowledge about how the housing market works in Sweden in general—and locally in particular—is an important area where housing companies can take on responsibility beyond the obvious task of providing apartments that people can afford.
