"A home for you now and in the future " is our promise to our customers. Among other things, this means that our tenants should feel at home and be able to continue living with us even as their lives change.
Skövdebostäder works toward social sustainability in various ways:
- We look out for our tenants—if they find themselves in difficulty—by serving as a link between the landlord and various support services in the community.
- We want to play a part in creating good living conditions for the residents of Skövde and others with whom we have relationships. This could involve, for example, including social requirements in procurement processes and participating in networks such as “Stad för stad.”
- We are a leading community organization that offers more than just housing. This may include, for example, initiatives that promote integration, such as language cafés and employment projects for people who are currently far removed from the job market. We also help young people enter the job market by offering a large number of summer jobs.
- We are part of various networks for cooperation on safety-promoting and crime-prevention measures, such as EST (Effective Coordination for Safety), CITY-säkert, and Våga bry dig. All of these networks include the municipality and the police.
- We prevent improper tenancy arrangements through information and systematic reviews of our housing inventory. People should be able to trust our housing waiting list.
- We are active in the community and provide information and education to various target groups about their rights and obligations under rental law. We have developed a housing orientation program for new tenants who may not have much experience living in rental housing.
- We collaborate with various organizations to offer our tenants meaningful leisure activities and vibrant neighborhoods in Skövde.
Social Housing Agreement with the Municipality of Skövde
The pressure on the municipality’s support services is constantly increasing. This includes, among other things, the challenge of finding housing for people in vulnerable groups. To create better conditions for helping people more quickly, Skövdebostäder and the City of Skövde have entered into a social housing agreement. Read more about our social housing agreement.
Aspö gård
Our goal is for our tenants to feel at home and want to stay with us for a long time. That’s why we offer a little more than just standard housing. One example of this added value is Aspö gård. Just a few kilometers from downtown lies our rural idyll, which is available to our tenants and all residents of Skövde.
Dare to Care
At Skövdebostäder, we believe in showing consideration and compassion in the buildings where we live. It’s about moving from concern to consideration and daring to care about one another. If we know how to act when we’re concerned that a neighbor is being harmed, we also have an opportunity to help prevent domestic violence. Read more about “Dare to Care.”
Code of Conduct for Suppliers
To clarify its social sustainability requirements, Skövdebostäder has adopted a code of conduct for suppliers.
In some cases, we work with suppliers who, in turn, have many subcontractors, and production may also take place abroad. We are committed to ensuring that the goods and services we purchase are produced under sustainable and responsible conditions, free from corruption. For example, our suppliers’ operations must comply with applicable labor laws and the UN Declaration of Human Rights at every stage.
