Louise is one of the young people who had a summer job at the company this year. For her, it was also her first time. She applied to Skövdebostäder after seeing an ad on social media. In the spring, she received a job offer, and in August, she worked her last week.
“I’ve been working at Skövdebostäder for six weeks. It’s been a fun and educational summer. Among other things, I’ve been weeding flower beds and cleaning stairwells,” says Louise.
Louise thinks that being outdoors has been a big perk of the job. She has learned a lot about gardening.
“Some of my colleagues knew a lot about flowers and plants, and they gave me several tips on how to care for them properly. That will come in handy in the future when I have my own garden,” says Louise.
Louise is one of 40 summer workers hired by Skövdebostäder this year. For many of the summer workers, this is their first experience with the working world. The job gives young people the chance to earn their own money and gain experience, while the summer staff are a valuable asset during the summer months when outdoor spaces are in full bloom and regular staff need to take vacation.
Working with People
The work at Skövdebostäder is socially oriented, and Louise says she has been able to participate in planning the work.
“My coworkers collaborate a lot, which is great. I’ve been able to help decide what needs to be done, and that’s made me feel like part of the team. I’ve also had the chance to talk with cheerful and friendly tenants on several occasions,” says Louise.
