Pay the rent

Rent must always be paid in advance, no later than the last business day of each month.

When you become a tenant with us, your rent statement will be sent to you by email. Rent statements are sent out between the 15th and the 20th of each month. Rent must be paid even if you haven’t received a rent statement.

If you have trouble paying your rent on time any given month, please contact us to discuss the possibility of a payment extension. Call the customer service center at 0500-47 74 00.

The rent is to be paid to bankgiro 227-9347.

How would you like to pay?

How would you like to receive your rent invoice? There are several different ways to receive your rent invoice. You are always responsible for paying, regardless of whether you have received an invoice or not.

  • PDF – this is the default option if you do not make a different selection when you become a tenant with us. It will then be sent to your email address, so please make sure it is correct. If you do not currently receive your statement as a PDF, you can request it by contacting us by phone or email.
  • E-invoices – you can sign up for this through your online banking service.
  • Direct Debit – You can set up direct debit authorization through your online banking service. You can also sign up for direct debit by filling out a form available at Bobutiken, Drottninggatan 2 A, or by downloading it here (PDF).
  • E-invoicing and direct debit – if you sign up for both e-invoicing and direct debit, you can combine these options.

What happens if I don't pay my rent?

If you do not pay your rent by the due date, the following will happen:

  • After three business days, you will receive an email reminding you that the rent is due. The email will also inform you that you risk being charged a late fee of 60 kronor if the rent is not paid immediately.
  • If you still do not pay, we will send you another reminder, and you will then have to pay an additional 60 kronor on top of the rent. Payment must be received by us within seven days of the reminder.
  • If you still do not pay, a collection notice will be sent. In that case, a collection fee of 180 kronor will be added to the rent.
  • If you still do not pay your rent, the case may be referred to the Enforcement Authority.

Even if the reminders haven't reached you or you haven't seen them, the late fee still applies if you don't pay your rent on time.

Could I lose my apartment if I don't pay the rent on time?

Paying rent is the tenant’s primary obligation. If a tenant is more than one week late in paying rent, the right to tenancy is forfeited and the landlord is entitled to terminate the lease, according to Chapter 12 of the Land Code (1970:994), also known as the Tenancy Act. Skövdebostäder does not terminate a tenant’s lease simply because they miss a rent payment once. However, repeated delays—especially if they exceed seven days—may result in you losing your apartment. Once you have been evicted, it is very difficult to find a new apartment—both with us and with other landlords.

Student Information
June and July are rent-free months for those who live in one of Skövdebostäder's student apartments.
