Effective March 1, Skövdebostäder will impose a late fee if rent is not paid within seven days of the due date. The late fee is 60 kronor. Before the late fee is charged, the tenant will receive a reminder via email. This reminder will be sent three business days after the payment is due.
After the second reminder, payment must be received by us within seven days. Otherwise, we will charge a collection fee. The fee is currently 180 kronor.
Risks of Not Paying Rent
Paying rent is the tenant’s primary obligation. If a tenant is more than one week late in paying rent, the right to tenancy is forfeited and the landlord is entitled to terminate the lease, according to Chapter 12 of the Land Code (1970:994), also known as the Tenancy Act. Skövdebostäder does not terminate a tenant’s lease simply because they miss a rent payment once. However, repeated delays—especially if they exceed seven days—may result in you losing your apartment.
