Mobility Week: Tips for Cycling in Skövde

September 16–22 marks European Mobility Week, an initiative designed to facilitate and encourage sustainable travel and transportation. Cycling is good for the climate, your health, and your wallet—and we’ve put together our best tips for cycling in Skövde.

Tip:

  • Plan your route. With Skövde Municipality’s digital bike map, you can easily find the shortest bike route to your destination.
  • Take care of your bike every now and then. That way, it’ll last longer and your bike rides will be more enjoyable. Here at Skövdebostäder, we have a number of bike service stations in our neighborhoods. There, you’ll find both bike pumps and tools. You can also hang up your bike for a more ergonomic working position. Our bike service stations, which are open to everyone, are also marked on the city’s digital map. If there’s a bike service station in your neighborhood, you’ll find it on your neighborhood map.
  • Try something different from your usual daily bike rides—like a bike tour! For example, you can take the family on an art tour to see Skövdebostäder’s public artworks. You can find a map of the artworks here.
  • Lock your bike securely. Having your bike stolen is no fun—but there are ways to make theft more difficult. Use a U-lock and secure both the frame and at least one wheel to the bike rack.

Wants to be at the front

The Skövde City Council wants to take a proactive approach to environmental and climate issues. Among other things, the city aims to achieve a net-zero carbon footprint by 2045. In September, Skövdebostäder, the City of Skövde, and Skövde Energi are launching a joint campaign to contribute to the climate transition. The campaign focuses on mobility and transportation—an area that has a significant impact on the climate.
