VAT is now being applied to parking agreements

A new interpretation of the VAT Act means that VAT will be charged on all parking spaces, carports, and garages.

Effective October 1, 2026, all of our parking facilities (such as parking spaces, carports, and garages) will be subject to a 25 percent VAT rate.

The Swedish Tax Agency has issued a new interpretation of the Value-Added Tax Act and decided that all parking spaces are subject to VAT. Under the new rules, all parking spaces covered by separate agreements—distinct from the apartment lease—must include VAT in the fee. This is therefore a decision by the Swedish Tax Agency that applies throughout Sweden.

Most of our written parking agreements need to be amended due to this change. This means that if you have a parking agreement—whether it’s for a parking space, a carport, or a garage—you’ll need to accept a change to the terms. If you do not wish to accept the change, you may terminate your parking agreement.

In the Tenant Guide, we've compiled most of what you, as a current tenant, need to know, and we'll update it as new questions arise: https://www.skovdebostader.se/hyresgastguiden/moms-parkering/
