New Wall Art at Gamla Skolan – Inspired by Nature

A previously bare wall at the Gamla Skolan senior living facility has been given a new lease on life. Now, residents and visitors are greeted by artwork designed to provide both tranquility and inspiration.

Poppies, blades of grass, and fairies are some of the motifs in the new mural. When the artwork was installed on May 12, several tenants stopped to talk with the artist, Bodil Pettersson, and praise her work.

“It’s really nice to see that people seem to appreciate the wall art. Since some older people aren’t able to get out very often, I wanted to bring a little piece of nature in here,” says Bodil.

Art with a Focus on Well-Being

A great deal of thorough work went into this artwork. After receiving the commission from Skövdebostäder, Bodil conducted an analysis of the local environment and also spoke with people in the target group. The image was created by combining her own photographs and drawings into a single composition. Skaraborgs Offset then printed and installed the artwork.

“I have a background in neurodesign, which focuses on how environments affect our physical and mental health. The idea is that the art should create a sense of calm, while also offering details to discover when you look more closely at the wall,” says Bodil.

Bodil runs the company Bring Beauty and has previously worked as a pattern designer and florist, among other things.
