How does Skövdebostäder approach social responsibility in the community today?
At Skövdebostäder, our housing and social services unit leads and coordinates this work. We are constantly developing our approaches to housing and social issues and need to be responsive to the needs of our tenants and other residents of the municipality. Here are a few examples of how we approach social responsibility:
- We are part of networks—for example, with the police and other stakeholders—to increase safety and prevent crime and vandalism. These include, for example, EST (Effective Coordination for Safety), Citysäkert, the Ryd Neighborhood Group, and integration networks.
- We have summer staff who organize activities for children. The activities are free of charge, and everyone is welcome. Learn more about the summer vacation activities.
- We have sponsorship partnerships with local organizations.
- We have introduced the “Dare to Care” policy, which explains what you can do if you suspect that a neighbor is being harmed. Learn more about the “Dare to Care” policy.
- We work to prevent financial hardship and mental health issues by educating young people about finding their first home. We have visited middle schools and will also be giving a lecture at the University of Skövde this fall.
- We work to prevent evictions related to disturbances, neglect, and financial difficulties. For example, we connect people with the appropriate assistance offered by the municipality and other government agencies.
- We have a social housing agreement with the Municipality of Skövde, under which we work to ensure that people who are far removed from the housing market have a chance to reintegrate into society.
- We work to ensure a fair rental process and to prevent unfair rental practices.
What does Skövdebostäder want to achieve in the future?
In our sustainability strategy, we have developed the following overall goals:
- Skövdebostäder must take the children’s perspective into account in all of the company’s activities.
- We will fulfill our social responsibility through meaningful social initiatives that strengthen social sustainability in society.
- We will work on initiatives to promote greater integration.
- We aim to achieve a high level of employee satisfaction; the goal in the company’s business plan is an eNPS of at least 50 for the years 2024–2027.
What can I do as a tenant?
As a tenant, you can help make your neighbors feel safe by, for example:
- Say “hello” to your neighbor. Knowing who your neighbors are helps you feel safe
- Organize activities in your neighborhood to get to know each other better. Feel free to contact us at Skövdebostäder, and we’ll be happy to support you.
- Act in accordance with our "Dare to Care" policy
- Get involved in your neighborhood watch.
- Report crimes to the police and notify Skövdebostäder of issues such as incorrect population registry entries or suspected illegal subletting.
Why is the issue of social responsibility important?
As a public housing company, we want to help promote community, participation, and health in Skövde. By taking social responsibility, we aim to contribute to a stable society that can withstand challenges.
