Skövde Science City is Skövde Municipality’s major development project in Mariesjö. Here, a vibrant urban environment is being created, featuring housing, services, commercial spaces, and community gathering places. The Eldaren neighborhood Eldaren between Magasinsgatan and Kaplansgatan.

Ground-floor spaces
Skövdebostäder’s residential buildings will also feature commercial spaces on the ground floor. The Eldaren neighborhood Eldaren the company’s second project in Skövde Science City.
“We previously developed the Bostället neighborhood Bostället the intersection of Mariesjövägen and Lärkstigen. The apartments are popular and were fully leased ahead of move-in this fall and winter,” says Katarina Prick, CEO of Skövdebostäder.
Outdoor Space at a Higher Level
Skövde Science City is intended to be an area with its own identity, more open architecture, and taller buildings. The buildings in the Eldaren neighborhood Eldaren to the district’s distinctive mix, and the buildings will vary in height, reaching up to twelve stories.
“The rooftops of the residential buildings will be used as large terraces with outdoor spaces for the tenants,” says Anna Hedblom, construction project manager at Skövdebostäder.
Cooperation Brings Benefits
Near the residential buildings, Skövde Municipality is building a middle school—and building a school and housing together is a first for Skövde. In the Eldaren neighborhood project, Skövde Municipality and Skövdebostäder Eldaren therefore Eldaren in a new way. This offers several advantages.
“Among other things, being able to optimize land use and make shared use of both spaces and functions is an important aspect of sustainability. This contributes to a vibrant neighborhood around the clock,” says Anna Hedblom, construction project manager at Skövdebostäder.
Completion in 2027
The detailed plan for the Eldaren neighborhood Eldaren open for public comment through February 19. The plan could take effect no earlier than fall 2024. The middle school is scheduled to be completed by the fall semester of 2027, and the first homes in the Eldaren neighborhood Eldaren also Eldaren to be completed shortly thereafter. The area will also feature a large grocery store, a mobility center, and a sports hall that can be used by both the school and the local sports community.
More construction projects in the works
Skövdebostäder has several construction projects in the works. Among other things, the Tallyckan area—which includes 18 new homes in Stöpen—will be put out to bid this spring. The zoning plan for Vadden, located between Falkvägen and Södra Bergvägen, recently became legally binding. Here, the company plans to build 52 new apartments in two high-rise buildings, and the procurement process will take place no earlier than this fall.
“We have also secured land reservations for two sites on Spånvägen Södra Ryd. This means we are exploring the possibility of future construction there. It is not yet clear if, when, or to what extent we will build,” says Bernt Mårtensson, chairman of the board of Skövdebostäder.
