To provide more seniors with access to suitable housing, the City of Skövde has converted a number of assisted living apartments into what are known as “security housing.” A “security housing” unit is a residence that meets requirements for good accessibility and safety, as well as proximity to social activities and community life.
No social services decision is required to live in a senior housing unit; anyone who has turned 70 can apply, and units are allocated through a waiting list system. For Skövde Municipality’s senior housing units, those who have turned 90 are given priority.
