In the northern part of the municipality lies the town of Tidan, about 2.5 mil from downtown Skövde. Tidan serves as the central town for the surrounding countryside, and here you’ll find a grocery store, a health center, a school with its own outdoor pool, and a church right in the middle of the village. Here you’ll also find Solgården, which offers six senior housing units.
All of the senior housing units are located on the ground floor of a townhouse-style building, with the Solgården retirement home as its closest neighbor. Each unit has its own small patio. Solgården features a restaurant with an attached kitchen. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner for those who wish to dine there. Träffpunkt Solgården is open to residents and the general public and offers a variety of activities. Right outside, there is access to public transportation for trips to Skövde or Töreboda.
Standard apartments with greater security
To provide more seniors with access to suitable housing, the City of Skövde has converted a number of service apartments into what are known as “security housing.” Security housing refers to housing that meets requirements for good accessibility and safety, as well as proximity to social activities and community life.
No social services decision is required to live in a senior housing unit; anyone who has turned 70 can apply, and units are allocated through a waiting list system. For Skövde Municipality’s senior housing units, those who have turned 90 are given priority.
Owned by the municipality and leased by Skövdebostäder
Skövdebostäder manages the rental and waiting list for Skövde Municipality’s apartments in Sörbacka in Värsås, as well as Skövde Municipality’s senior housing in Boken and Bagaren in central Skövde, Käpplunda gärde in Skövde, Billingsdal in Timmersdala, and Solgården in Tidan. Once you are living in one of these apartments, you should contact Skövde Municipality.
