- Only run full loads in the dishwasher and washing machine.
- Get an app to track your hourly electricity usage. That way, you’ll also be able to identify which appliances are the “electricity thieves” in your home.
- Keep track of your electricity contract and the options offered by different providers—this does not apply to you if you have individual electricity metering.
- Unplug chargers for cell phones and other devices when they are not in use.
- Use LED lights and don't leave them on unnecessarily.
- Thaw frozen food in the refrigerator.
- Don't leave appliances on standby; make sure they are turned off when not in use.
- Keep the temperature in your refrigerator and freezer at the right level. +4 to +6 degrees in the refrigerator and -18 °C in the freezer are ideal.
- Vacuum the grille on the back of the refrigerator and freezer once a year.
- Use a kettle or microwave instead of the stove whenever possible.
- Don't put hot food in the refrigerator; let it cool down first.
