Among other things, the survey compares how satisfied tenants are with their level of influence, channels of communication, the information they receive from their landlord, and the ability to report problems.
It’s a challenge to communicate effectively when the tenant group varies widely and, as a result, has different needs and circumstances. Skövdebostäder’s approach to tenant communication is focused on ensuring that residents are happy and feel well-informed. It’s important to receive accurate and easy-to-understand information about something as important as one’s home. For example, if the water needs to be shut off, it has a major impact on daily life. Communication is also about making it easy to contact your landlord and have a say in your living situation.
The survey shows that more and more people want to communicate via email and text message than in the past.
Improve the error reporting process
Even though tenants are satisfied with the communication, Skövdebostäder is reviewing the responses to see what can be improved. There is room for improvement when it comes to reporting apartment issues. The company will be working on this in the coming year. Currently, tenants can report issues via an app, phone call, or email—so the channels of communication are good—but the feedback provided to tenants needs to be further improved.
About the Survey
The survey was conducted in November and December 2020 by the research firm AktivBo. Approximately 200 randomly selected tenants of Skövdebostäder responded to the survey. In addition to Skövdebostäder, other housing companies throughout Sweden are participating.
