What should I do if my neighbors are bothering me?

According to the Tenancy Act, you must never disturb your neighbors, regardless of the time of day. During the day, you must be more tolerant of various types of noise than at night. Late in the evening and at night, it should be relatively quiet, even though it can never be completely silent.

Sometimes it can be difficult to know what counts as a disturbance. You can always call the Social Services Unit for advice on how to deal with disruptive neighbors. You can call the Skövdebostäder switchboard at 0500-47 74 00 and press 4. If the disturbance occurs in the evening or at night , you can call the security hotline at 0500-43 70 00. They will respond as needed between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. As the person reporting the incident, you remain anonymous to the person causing the disturbance, but you will need to provide your name and apartment number to our security hotline.

All calls to the security hotline are recorded, and if the disturbance is confirmed, the disturbance procedure—which is governed by the Tenancy Act—will be initiated. Confirmed disturbances are documented, and you, as the person causing the disturbance, will receive a warning letter and be charged 1,400 kronor. In the event of multiple confirmeddisturbances , the mattermay be referred to the Rent Tribunal for a decision on whether the lease should be renewed.

Skövdebostäder will follow up with you if you’ve reported a problem by sending you a text message the day after you call the emergency hotline, letting you know whether the emergency hotline has confirmed the problem or not.
