As a tenant of Skövdebostäder, you have the opportunity to influence your living situation. Tenant participation is about how you can help shape your apartment, your neighborhood, and how we work together to develop our communities.
We want to be responsive to your needs and create safe, comfortable homes where it’s easy to feel at home—no matter what type of home you live in.
Resident Input on Your Apartment
The options for customizing your apartment may vary depending on the type of housing you live in.
In our regular housing portfolio, you have the option to:
- opt for measures to improve the quality of the apartment
- influence maintenance through tenant-managed apartment maintenance (HLU)
- make decisions in connection with major renovations or refurbishments
What is possible depends, among other things, on the apartment's layout, age, and the choices that have been made in the past.
For those of you living in student housing
Student housing generally has a fixed and uniform standard. This means that the ability to make your own choices or changes in your apartment is more limited than in our regular housing stock.
As a student, your say in your living situation therefore mainly involves:
- safety and well-being in the area
- common areas and living environment
- dialogue, feedback, and suggestions for improvement
Your experiences and opinions are important to us, even when it comes to student housing.
Together with neighbors
Resident participation is also about community and working together to create a safe and vibrant neighborhood.
You can get involved and make a difference by:
- participate in activities or initiatives in the area.
- Submit suggestions for ways to improve the living environment. As a tenant, you may be asked for your input in connection with various renovation projects. This could involve, for example, choosing colors for stairwells or renovating outdoor areas and playgrounds.
- Get involved in issues related to courtyards, common areas, or outdoor spaces.
- Saying hello to a neighbor you run into in the stairwell or in the courtyard has a positive impact on your living situation, as it increases your sense of security.

Dialogue and Customer Surveys
We want to maintain an ongoing dialogue with you as a tenant. That is why we use several different forms of dialogue, such as:
- customer surveys for both those of you living in student apartments and those in our regular apartments. Both surveys are sent out on an ongoing basis throughout the year so that all tenants have the opportunity to respond once within a 12-month period.
- safety walks
- site meetings and discussions related to development or renovation projects
