Home insurance – your responsibility

In good times, you make plans to protect yourself in bad times. As a tenant, you are responsible for your belongings in the apartment—regardless of the type of housing.

Skövdebostäder has insurance that covers the property and common areas, but it does not cover your personal belongings.

Without home insurance, you risk having to cover significant costs yourself if something unexpected happens, such as a fire or water damage—even if the damage wasn't caused intentionally.

With home insurance, you get liability coverage that can help cover costs if you cause damage to the property or to your neighbors’ property. In some cases, the insurance may also reimburse you for the cost of temporary housing if your apartment becomes uninhabitable while the damage is being repaired.

We therefore recommend that you contact an insurance company and purchase a home insurance policy if you do not already have one.

That's why home insurance is important

Home insurance can provide you with, among other things:

  • Protection for Your Belongings
Compensation in the event of a burglary, fire, or water damage for items such as furniture, clothing, and electronics.

  • Liability Coverage
Assistance with paying damages if you accidentally cause damage to the property or to others.

  • Compensation for Temporary Housing
Some insurance policies may cover costs if you are unable to continue living in your home during a renovation.

  • Legal and Travel Protection
Most home insurance policies also include legal and travel protection.
