The exchange can take place:
- within Skövdebostäder's housing stock, or
- with a tenant of another housing company
Common reasons that may be accepted include, for example, a replacement:
- between a larger and a smaller home
- between lower and higher rent
Skövdebostäder does not approve the exchange of a rental apartment for another type of housing, such as a single-family home or a condominium.
Basic Requirements for Apartment Exchanges
In general, the following applies:
- You must have lived in your current apartment for at least one year
- A request for a change must be submitted to both landlords
- Both parties to the exchange must meet the respective landlord's requirements
If you obtained your current apartment through an exchange and have lived there for less than one year, the landlord is only required to approve a new exchange if there are exceptional circumstances.

Skövdebostäder does not facilitate contact between tenants who want to swap apartments. However, we offer the “Bostadsbytet” service on “My Pages.”
On Bostadsbytet, you can:
- Post what you have and what you're looking for
- contact other tenants on your own
- Find a potential swap partner within Skövdebostäder's housing portfolio
Application for an Apartment Exchange
Once you've found someone you want to swap apartments with, here's what to do:
- Fill out the form Application for an Apartment Exchange (PDF).
- Send the form to info@skovdebostader.se or drop it off in person at the Bobutiken store at Drottninggatan 2A.
- Applications are reviewed by the respective landlord.
A change may be implemented only after it has been approved in writing by all parties concerned.
