Residential apartment
For residential apartments , a three (3)-month notice period normally applies . The notice period always runs until the end of a calendar month and takes effect three full calendar months after the date you give notice to terminate the lease.
Example:
If you give notice to end your lease on January 28, February, March, and April are counted as full months. The lease is then terminated effective May 1.
Please note:
The notice period applies even if you move to another apartment within Skövdebostäder. This may mean that, for a period of time, you will need to pay rent for two apartments at the same time.

Termination in the Event of Death
Special rules apply in the event of death. If notice of termination is given within one month of the death, the estate may choose a notice period of one (1) month. If notice of termination is given later, the standard notice period applies.
Parking Spaces and Garages
If you give notice to terminate your lease on your apartment, any parking spaces and garages are normally terminated automatically on the same date. If they are not terminated along with the apartment, the following applies:
- Parking space: 1 month's notice
- Garage: 3-month notice period
Termination Forms
You are welcome to give notice on your apartment via e-signature, but in some cases a form is required. Please remember that you must submit the completed form to us at Bobutiken, located at Drottninggatan 2A, and present a valid form of identification for the notice to be approved. You can find our hours of operation under “Contact Us.”
- If you live in one of Skövdebostäder’s apartments (including senior housing, but not student housing) or want to cancel a parking space or garage, use the “Termination of Lease” form.
- If you live in a student apartment, there is a special form for this.
- If you are renting a senior housing unit through the City of Skövde, you should use the forms that apply to these units.
