Questions and Answers About Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
I want a charging spot—how do I go about it?
First, log in to My Pages and go to “Available Parking Spots.” There, you can see if there are any available parking spots with charging stations in your area. You can also set up an email alert so you don’t miss new spots that become available and are posted.
If there are no available charging spots, you can contact the property management office, which has an overview of the parking areas and planned expansion of charging stations. Also contact the property management office if you live in an area where you have a garage or carport that belongs to your home, such as Källtorp.
Who can express interest in a charging station?
If you are a tenant of Skövdebostäder, you can express interest in available spaces with a charging station.
Where are Skövdebostäder’s charging stations located?
We have approximately 200 charging stations throughout our communities, and they are installed both in parking lots and in heated garages. However, there are no charging stations in unheated garages due to a lack of capacity. We do not currently rent out charging stations in our student housing areas.
How much does it cost?
The cost of the charging station is 200 SEK per month, in addition to the regular parking space rental fee. There is an additional charge per kilowatt-hour used, which is billed in arrears on your rent statement.
Which cars can be charged?
All rechargeable electric cars can be charged using our charging stations. Today, there are two types of rechargeable cars on the market—plug-in hybrids and fully electric cars.
What kind of charging station is it?
We provide a charging station with a power output of up to 3.7 kilowatts that has a Type 2 outlet.
Is the charging station you're installing compatible with all types of electric cars?
Yes, the charging station has a Type 2 outlet, which is the standard in the EU today. You'll need to purchase and choose a suitable cable to connect the charging station to your car.
Is the cord included?
No, as a renter, you are responsible for providing your own cord.
Can I charge my car using other outlets, such as engine block heater outlets?
No, you should always use an outlet designed for electric vehicle charging. Engine block heater outlets are not rated to handle that type of charging and pose an increased fire risk.
What is the notice period?
The notice period for a parking space or a garage with a charging station is the same as for those without charging facilities—that is, one full month for a parking space and three full months for a garage. If you give notice to terminate your apartment lease, the parking agreement is also terminated as of the same move-out date.
