If you have your own patio or garden adjacent to your apartment, you may set up a pool or trampoline there. But keep in mind that, as a tenant, you are responsible for ensuring that the equipment poses no obvious risks. As property owners, we are also obligated to notify you if we see any danger in the items you, as a tenant, have set up on your patio.
However, pools and trampolines may not be set up on Skövdebostäder’s common areas, such as green spaces and parking lots. As property owners, we are responsible in the event of an accident. There must be no risk that nearby buildings could be damaged due to the equipment—for example, if a pool starts leaking water or a trampoline blows away.
When it comes to swimming pools, we follow the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building, and Planning’s recommendations:
- No special safety measures are required for wading pools or similar structures with a water depth of 20 centimeters or less. Keep in mind, however, that there is a risk of drowning even in shallow water if the pool is not supervised.
- For pools with water deeper than 20 centimeters, a child-proof fence at least 90 centimeters high is required, as well as a safety cover or safety net with a maximum mesh size of 50 millimeters.
(The safety cover or safety net must be intended for this purpose and designed to minimize the risk of accidents. The safety cover or net must be able to support the weight of a child without giving way. Ordinary tarps can be life-threatening—in part because of their weight if a child falls into the water beneath the tarp.)
Be sure to be considerate of your neighbors so that the pool or trampoline doesn't cause too much noise.
